Tooling
Design is another way we excel over other product
design firms. Typical product and industrial design
firms lack the expertise of plastic tooling design.
We at 2N2 Product Development have our own tooling
design engineer on staff. Eighteen years of tooling design
experience along with expertise in mold debugging and
processing gives us the ability to produce good parts
in a timely and efficient manner. This means optimized
tool build lead times, and lower cycle times, which
translates to lower cost per unit for our clients!
During
the product design phase, our tooling engineer will begin
creating and recommending mold tooling design concepts.
This saves time upfront! Once our client has approved the
product design, the 3D geometry data is electronically transferred
to the tooling engineer who completes the production tool
design. We pay extra attention into cooling design, gate
size, and using proper shrink factors. The tool design data
is then electronically transferred to the moldmaker, who
develops the tool paths for CNC machining. 2D drawings are
only provided as a reference! Many tests are performed on
the mold prior to running production, such as mold &
runner balance, and part balance. This insures the best,
possible part off the mold!
We also provide the following support:
- Vendor selection
- Mold processing and debugging
- Decorating / Assembly methods
